A Digital Ecosystem Project

Sheng Jie (圣洁) is a Chinese immigrant who arrived in Barcelona in her early twenties.
She now lives here with her family. We interviewed her, and she shared her story with us.

She and her husband opened Bazar Xinjun about 15 years ago—a small shop located on Carrer d'Astúries.
Over time, the bazar has become a place where neighbors come to buy household essentials, plants, or simply to visit and chat.

Sheng Jie told us that she now feels the store is very small and outdated compared to how it used to be,
and that the business model of traditional bazaars is something people are gradually forgetting—or that may soon become a thing of the past.

We filmed and captured images of the store and decided to create a website dedicated to this bazar,
in order to preserve what may eventually fade away with time.
For those who know the shop, it is a space full of nostalgia; and for those who don’t,
we hope to raise more awareness about these businesses and the people behind them.

After finishing the prototype of the website, we returned to the store to show Sheng Jie our project.

We recorded this video to capture that moment.

We will always remember how kind she was to us, and the joy on her face.
